Tennessee met with Georgia DC Mel Tucker earlier this week and apparently are set to meet with him yet again.

Per a report from FootballScoop.com and Mark Schlabach, Tennessee has its sights set on Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker to become their next head coach.

Update: Tucker is set to meet with Tennessee on Tuesday for a second interview.

From the initial report:

“Sources tell FootballScoop Fulmer has met (or spoken with)…or has meetings set with Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, SMU head coach Chad Morris and former LSU head coach Les Miles.”

If Tennessee goes with Mel Tucker, it is unknown as to whether or not he would stay on board as defensive coordinator with Georgia throughout the playoffs.

Tucker has held coaching jobs at nine different football programs throughout his career, however, never as a head coach other than on an interim basis:

2001-03: Ohio State (defensive backs coach)

2004: Ohio State (Co-defensive coordinator)

2005-07: Cleveland Browns (defensive backs coach)

2011: Jacksonville Jaguars (interim head coach)

2012: Jacksonville Jaguars (associate head coach, defensive coordinator)

2013-14: Chicago Bears (defensive coordinator)

2015: Alabama (associate head coach, defensive coordinator)
