According to a report from Bruce Feldman, Georgia assistant Kevin Sherrer is likely to become defensive coordinator at Tennessee.

Tennessee hired former Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt (most recently at Alabama) as its next head coach and Pruitt is quickly assembling a rather impressive coaching staff.

Expected to join the staff as defensive coordinator is Georgia outside linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer — Kirby Smart is yet to confirm Sherrer’s departure, though.

Georgia was, however, able to hold onto defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and wide receivers coach James Coley, who received interest from Tennessee and Texas A&M, respectively.

There is no word yet regarding whether or not Sherrer will remain at UGA for UGA’s playoff run, though Pruitt will indeed coach Alabama through the remainder of the season.

In addition to Sherrer, Pruitt is bringing in experienced SEC assistants Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph to assist on the defense.

Sherrer is the only coach remaining from the Mark Richt era.
