An Oklahoma Sooners website, Crimson and Cream Machine, discusses the Georgia defense.

“The Georgia defense is spectacular, but it’s not invincible,” headlines the article.

They are not wrong. The Georgia defense, though very athletic, sound, aggressive and smothering, is indeed not invincible.

“Roquan Smith and the Georgia defense are elite. However, Oklahoma’s offense should still be able to make big plays and score points.”

The articles author, Seth Oliveras, does a very respectable job of objectively previewing the Georgia defense versus the Oklahoma offense.

Georgia won’t shutout Baker Mayfield and the Oklahoma offense, it’s just not possible. However, they can give him problems – and hopefully, as mentioned in the article, the UGA offense will drain the clock with run after run in an effort to keep the ball out of Mayfield’s hands.

An excerpt from the post:

“Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs boast one of the most respected defensive units in the entire country. UGA has taken pride in thwarting opposing offenses this season, both with its defense as well as its own offense —which eats up plenty clock. I expect Georgia will want to play ball control, especially if the game is close or if they have a lead in the second half, in order to keep Mayfield and the dangerous Sooner offense sidelined.”

Oliveras continues by highlighting moments of weakness from the Georgia defense throughout the season, as well as analyzing how the Dawgs defense stacks up against the high-flying Sooners offense.
