One Georgia player has been listed by USA Today as a possibility to win the 2018 Heisman Trophy.

With Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield winning the 2017 Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, USA Today’s Paul Myerberg took a look at next year’s possible candidates for the prestigious award.

Myerberg listed Stanford running back Bryce Love as the most likely player to win next year. The list – which included 10 players – also contained Auburn quarterback Jarett Stidham (2) and Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts (4).

Checking at number 7 on the list was Georgia freshman quarterback Jake Fromm, who led the Dawgs to the College Football Playoff in his first season at Georgia.

Myerberg explains his reasoning for including Fromm.

“Fromm will be given more responsibility as a sophomore in 2018, as the Bulldogs look toward his growing experience in an effort to replace two standouts at running back. Fromm will be up for the challenge, but he’ll have to keep Georgia among the elite of college football to factor into the race.”

Fromm has all the tools necessary to win the award, but I would consider Georgia running back D’Andre Swift as the more likely Heisman hopeful in Athens next year.

This season, Fromm has completed 145/230 passes (63%) for 21 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

Swift, who has been acting as a third string running back, has rushed 73 times for 597 yards (8.2 YPC) and has added 4 total touchdowns. Next season, with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel playing on Sundays, Swift will be Georgia’s primary running back.
