Georgia considered the favorite to land five-star defensive lineman Brenton Cox
The momentum of an SEC Championship and College Football Playoff berth has Georgia peaking at the right time for the 2018 recruiting class.
After an unofficial visit to Athens last weekend, five-star Stockbridge High (Lithonia, GA) strong-side defensive end Brenton Cox is trending for the Bulldogs. Cox, who de-committed from Ohio State last week, is seen as a strong Georgia lean by the recruiting services, followed by the Buckeyes and Alabama. Cox will return to Athens this weekend for his official visit.
During his junior and senior season at Stockbridge, Cox collected 117 tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss and 23 quarterback sacks. The 6-foot-5, 247-pounds athlete is the nation’s 22nd overall prospect, the state’s No.5 prospect and is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 strong-side defensive end.
Georgia currently has 19 commits (including three 5-stars) and the SEC’s No.1-rated class. The Dawgs are in the running for a couple of more five-star recruits, including Pace Academy offensive guard Jamaree Slayer, the nation’s top offensive lineman.
