Kirby Smart is on his way to securing another elite recruiting class.

With the early signing period on the nearby horizon, Georgia is gaining some serious recruiting momentum, and is well on its way to pulling in another top class.

On Monday night, Georgia received a commitment from Trey Hill, the nation’s second ranked offensive guard.

Hill gives Georgia its 19th commitment for the 2018 class, joining the likes of quarterback Justin Fields, running back Zamir White, linebacker Adam Anderson and running back James Cook in what is already an impressive class.

According to 247Sports, Georgia is sitting at 4th in the national recruiting rankings and first in the SEC. Only Ohio State, Texas and Miami rank ahead of UGA.

Georgia’s class consists of three 5-star players, nine 4-star players and seven 3-star guys.

Only about half of the current commits (9 out of 20) hale from the peach state, though. Last year, 16 out of the 25 signees played their high school football in Georgia.

Georgia currently has a commitment from 2 of the top 10 players in the nation, in quarterback Justin Fields and running back Zamir White. Smart does, however, have his sights set on 5-star offensive guard Jamaree Salyer, the 10th ranked player in the nation.

On Monday night, Smart paid Salyer a visit.

If Smart can lock in a commitment from Salyer, a senior at Pace Academy in Atlanta, the Dawgs would then have the nation’s number 1 and number 2 ranked offensive guards (Salyer and Hill) committed. Salyer is almost certainly Smart’s top remaining target.

UGA is also very much in the running for another 5-star offensive lineman, Cade Mays, who ranks as the 16th best player in the nation. Mays, who lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, decommitted from the Volunteers last month and reopened his recruitment. Georgia appears to be in the lead for the 5-star prospect.

The Dawgs are also considered the favorite at the moment – according to 247Sports’ crystal ball – to land 5-star defensive end Brenton Cox, out of Stockbridge, Georgia. Cox, who decomitted from Ohio State last week, ranks as the 5th overall player in Georgia, the 22nd player in the nation and 2nd ranked strongside defensive end.

With the early signing period approaching next week, we will keep you updated on all things UGA recruiting.
