James Cook’s mother talks about her son’s visit to FSU with DawgNation
While a plethora of UGA commits and top recruits took a visit to Athens over the weekend, Georgia 4-star running back commit James Cook instead spent his weekend in Tallahassee, visiting Florida State.
Cook, the nation’s No. 3 running back and the No. 31-rated recruit in the nation, was initially committed to Florida State before reopening his recruitment and choosing Georgia in October.
Cook surprised a lot of people by visiting the Noles. However, after speaking with Cook’s mother, DawgNation learned that the visit was mostly out of respect for his old high school coach Telly Lockette, who is now the tight ends coach at FSU.
“Coach Lockette asked and [James] went,” Cook’s mother Varondria Burnett told Jeff Sentell of DawgNation. “We’ve been a part of FSU for three years. Coach Lockette has also meant a lot to Dalvin and Miami Central. No big deal.”
