Two Alabama Starters To Miss National Championship Game

When Alabama plays Georgia on Monday night for the national championship, the Tide will do so without two key players.

Alabama starting outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings already announced he will miss the game thanks to surgery on his knee. Now, on Saturday, Nick Saban announced that starting right guard Lester Cotton will also miss the game after leaving the Sugar Bowl with what appeared to be a leg injury. Cotton was later seen on crutches.

“We lost two more players in the last game — Lester Cotton and Anfernee Jennings,” Saban said Saturday. “Both starters are out for this game.”

To make matters worse for Alabama, superstar defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is projected as a top-ten pick in this year’s NFL Draft, has a bruised kidney, but is expected to play anyway.
