Davin Bellamy Applies For Trademark For Signature Phrase

Following Georgia’s Rose Bowl victory over Oklahoma, outside linebacker Davin Bellamy provided fans with one of the more memorable phrases to come from the 2017 season.

“Humble yourself,” Bellamy shouted to the Sooners’ Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Baker Mayfield following the Rose Bowl.

The phrase quickly caught on and went viral, and within 24 hours apparel was created and listed for sale featuring “humble yourself.”

According to a report from TMZ, on January 4th Bellamy submitted an application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark the phrase.

Though he submitted the application while still enrolled as a student-athlete at UGA, applications like these take time, possibly months, to be approved. Bellamy will not face eligibility issues with the NCAA thanks to his departure for the NFL.
