Top 100 Games Of 2017-18: Georgia Played In 3 Of Top 20, Including No. 1 & 2

On Friday, SB Nation finalized their rankings of college football’s top 100 games from this past season.

For the most part, Georgia won each game by a wide margin last season, however, there were three games that got the fans’ hearts pumping out of their chests in 2017-18.

Georgia’s games vs Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Alabama all cracked the top 16 on the list. Georgia also participated in the games ranked No. 1 and 2, and you can likely guess who they were against.

No. 16 – Sept. 9: Georgia 20, Notre Dame 19

Jake Fromm’s first start began what nearly became a national title run. The Dawgs relied on their defense, and it worked, in part because of a late Rodrigo Blankenship field goal and this absurd Terry Godwin catch on a third-and-goal.

 No. 2 – Jan. 8: Alabama 26, Georgia 23

Midway through, it didn’t seem a top-100 appearance was likely. Georgia led 13-0, and Alabama’s offense was so putrid that Nick Saban’s decision to sub out quarterback Jalen Hurts for Tua Tagovailoa didn’t seem like a panic move — the opposite would have felt more so. But it changed everything.

We will refrain from inserting any highlights on this one…

No. 1 – Jan. 1: Georgia 54, Oklahoma 48

The only reason the title game isn’t No. 1 is because a week before, in Pasadena, Georgia played in another Playoff game of plot twists. Only in this one, the first half wasn’t forgettable.
