Kirby Smart Named Maxwell Football Club's Coach of the Year

On Friday, Kirby Smart checked another item off his list of goals as head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs, after being named the Maxwell Football Club’s 2017 George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year.

Coming off a 13-2 season, leading Georgia to it’s first SEC Championship since 2005, winning the Rose Bowl and taking the team back to the National Championship for the first time since 1980, it’s no surprise Smart was named coach of the year.

The previous two winners, Nick Saban (2016) and Dabo Swinney (2015) both lost the National Championship game the year they won the award. However, both coaches took their teams back to the Title game the very next season and won it all.

…Optimism for Georgia fans looking ahead to next season.
