According to DawgNation, Georgia has relieved basketball coach Mark Fox of his duties
Mark Fox, the Georgia basketball coach for 9 years, was relieved of his duties on Saturday. Multiple outlets have confirmed that Fox will not return next season, though Georgia has no official announcement yet.
Friday, Fox coached the Bulldogs to a 62-49 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats in the SEC Tournament. Georgia had just beaten Vanderbilt and Missouri but needed to win the tournament in order to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, Georgia ran out of gas and the University ran out of patience.
Fox led the Bulldogs’ basketball program for 9 years in Athens. Fox finished with a .551 winning percentage (163-133) after coming to Georgia after coaching Nevada for 5 seasons. This year, Fox’s Bulldogs had a disappointing season, as some expected them to make an NCAA Tournament run. Instead, Georgia finished 18-15 overall, with a 9-12 record against SEC teams.
We wish Coach Fox nothing but the best for his future.
