Countdown To G-Day: 5 Weeks

Georgia is set to begin practice on Tuesday, which means that the annual G-Day game is 5 weeks away

Georgia, coming off an exciting and memorable 2017 season, is ready to turn the page on a new chapter. The Bulldogs have been working hard in the weight room this winter, and it is time now to take the field.  Tuesday, Georgia will begin its spring practices for the G-Day Game on April 21st.  Take a look as we quickly recap the events that have happened since January.

Georgia said farewell to an unforgettable senior class with a touching video. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs had to move on from one of the greatest senior classes to play in Athens.  Luckily for Georgia, the recruiting process has been very kind and helped to replace a lot of lost talent.  Georgia was able to finish with the top recruiting class in the country for 2018 and currently leads the 2019 rankings, as well.  Sunday, Georgia added a 4-star defensive tackle in Bill Norton to their already stellar 2019 class.

The Bulldogs’ loaded recruiting class has several players who can make an immediate impact and look to fill holes left by other departures. Running backs Zamir White and James Cook will try to replicate what Nick Chubb and Sony Michel did for the Dawgs.  Quarterback Justin Fields will look see  playing time and presents a unique opportunity as a dual-threat. Georgia had one of the top defenses last year, but it might take a year or two to replace Davin Bellamy, Lorenzo Carter, Roquan Smith and Dominick Sanders’ prodcution.

It will be interesting to watch how Justin Fields compares to pro-style quarterback Jake Fromm this Spring. Many fans are excited to see this matchup at G-Day, but there are other players to get excited about, too.  The spring practice season might help to clear the questions at running back. Georgia has several talented backs, but it is unknown who will emerge as the top one for next season.  Zamir White is still rehabbing from a torn ACL so he will not be playing in the G-Day game.  However, White is expected to play by September. We will continue to keep you updated throughout spring practice.
