Former Georgia Tight End Benjamin Watson Signs With Falcons Divisional Rival

Former Georgia tight end Benjamin Watson is returning to New Orleans.

The 37 year old Watson, who played in Athens from 2001-03, is coming off a solid NFL season in which he caught 61 passes for 522 yards and 4 touchdowns with the Baltimore Ravens. Prior to playing the 2017 season in Baltimore, Watson strung together 3 nice seasons in New Orleans, where he will now return for 2018 after signing a one year deal with the Saints.

Watson’s most successful NFL season came during his final year in New Orleans before going to Baltimore. In 2015, Watson caught 74 passes for 825 yards and had 6 touchdowns playing with Drew Brees.

Watson came to Georgia after playing his freshman year at Duke in 1999. During his three years in Athens, he had 852 yards and 6 touchdowns before being selected 32nd overall in the 2004 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
