Georgia cornerback Mark Webb, a member of UGA’s 2017 recruiting class out of Warminster, Pennsylvania, went down on Tuesday with what was characterized as a minor knee injury.
On Thursday, though, Kirby Smart provided some clarity on Webb’s status during a press conference, notifying the media that Webb has a torn meniscus which has since been scoped. Smart said a full recovery is expected and Webb should be back by fall.
Webb is expected to compete for a starting role in Georgia’s secondary this season.
Coach Smart had good things to say about Webb a few weeks ago following a spring practice.
“We’re going to have to count on him and some of the younger players to grow up. I think Mark’s physicality, the one unique thing about Mark is he’s a good tackler, and that is not always a great trait for some corners. So he’s physical, he’s a good tackler, he really wants to learn the defense.”
