Deandre Baker Looks Like A Shut Down Cornerback Heading Into 2018

Deandre Baker started out his spring game with a bang when he intercepted Jake Fromm and returned it for a touchdown.

I suspect that this won’t be the last pick six we see out of Baker in 2018. Baker was Georgia’s number 1 cornerback at the end of last season and played especially well in the playoff, including the National Championship, where he had a key interception that should’ve put the game out of hand. Coming into the season, Baker looks like the best player on defense for the Dawgs.

Per Walterfootball, he is projected to be a 1st round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. There’s also a good chance he starts out the season as a preseason All-American. Look for Baker to blanket his side of the field this upcoming season and give Georgia an edge on offenses that rely on primarily one WR. Baker will face a tough match-up in the second game of the season at South Carolina, where he will battle WR Deebo Samuel. Samuel tends to line up all over the field, but when he and Baker do face off it’ll be entertaining.
