Notre Dame defensive end Jay Hayes recently announced that he would be transferring for his final year of eligibility. Hayes is a graduate-transfer who opened his recruitment up to multiple schools, including Georgia, following a decomittment from Oklahoma.
He was seen in Athens for Saturday’s G-Day Game last week and seemed to enjoy himself.
On Tuesday, Hayes announced he will spend his final year of eligibility at Georgia.
“This is it!,” he wrote. “I’ll be heading down to Athens to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Go DAWGS!”
Hayes brings some much-needed experience to a young Georgia defense. Hayes played very well against Georgia’s offense last year in South Bend, totaling 7 tackles in an Irish loss.
Hayes was a 4-star defensive tackle in the class of 2013 out of Poly Prep in Brooklyn, N.Y., the same school that produced Georgia offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson. Last season, Hayes totaled 27 tackles, including 3.5 for a loss.
