Oklahoma Heisman winner Baker Mayfield was selected first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.
Mayfield, known not only for his on the field play but also his off the field antics as well, had no problem stirring up controversy during his time in Norman, Ok.
Throughout the 2017 season, the ongoing notion was “don’t make Mayfield angry. Mayfield wins when he’s called out.”
However, on January 1, 2018 in Pasadena, Ca., it was a different story. When Georgia met Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl, it was clear that the Dawgs’ defense was not fond of Mayfield, and vice versa.
Georgia, though, came out on top despite Mayfield’s claim that “it’s over” as the Sooners held a decent lead over Georgia.
Mayfield’s blatant disrespect for the Georgia defense is a storyline that has since faded into the background as we are nearly halfway through the offseason. But for Georgia outside linebacker D’Andre Walker, that memory is still fresh in his mind.
Walker had a nice showing in Pasadena, recording 5 tackles, 1 sack on Mayfield and 2 tackles for loss as he helped lead Georgia to a 54-48 victory in the Rose Bowl.
Following the news of Mayfield going first overall, Walker sent out a tweet that contained a tad of savagery, telling Mayfield he’ll see him again in two years as he posted a picture of Walker sacking Mayfield.
