Georgia Football Coach Kirby Smart Hits The Links in Birmingham

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart joined his SEC coaching peers in the celebrity portion of the Regions Tradition at Birmingham’s Greystone Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.

After his round of golf, he joined a live broadcast of The Paul Finebaum Show from the club, with the host opening the questioning with a reference to last season’s national championship game.

“I don’t think you ever really digest it. You try to look back when it’s all done, but it’s far from done. We’re moving on,” Smart commented.

Coach Smart talked about battling complacency for the upcoming season and continuing to grow as a team.

“Our players are all getting told how great they did and really we’re trying to focus on next year. We’re trying to grow a team, and we lost a lot of really good players. Three first-round picks, first time in the history of Georgia and replacing those guys is not going to be easy.”

Smart commented on the the Georgia fan base and knows they have high expectations.

“You got to feed the beast in any profession,” Smart said. “I think any time you got a fan base as passionate as ours…I mean look at the games last year. Took over Notre Dame, took over the Rose Bowl, did a tremendous job when we played in Atlanta of being representative. I’m excited about our fan base. They’re passionate and the expectations have always been there.”
