Ranking The Top College Football Pregame Traditions

College football is full of incredible traditions and rituals that give every diehard fan chills, no matter the game. Like you, we are anxiously awaiting the first Saturday of college football, so to kill the time we went ahead and ranked 6 of our favorite pregame traditions from around the country.

6. Battle Hymn of the Bulldog Nation

Starting us off at No. 5 are our beloved Bulldogs, who tee it up ‘tween the hedges on Saturdays, but only after a soloist trumpeter plays 14 notes to a silent DawgNation, who points to the southwest corner of Sanford Stadium. Once the first 14 notes echo throughout, the fans turn their attention to the videboard as Larry Munson proclaims:

Glory, glory to ole’ Georgia.

Heroes have graced the field before you. Men with hearts, bodies and minds for which the entire Bulldog Nation can be justifiably proud. The tradition of unbridled excellence demonstrated by these individuals and many others spans more than a full century.

And now a new breed of Bulldawg stands ready to take the field of Battle. To assume the reigns of their Georgia forebearers. To continue that tradition. Understanding that there is no tradition more worthy of envy. No institution worthy of such loyalty as The University of Georgia.

As we prepare for another meeting between the hedges let all the Bulldawg faithful rally behind the men who now wear the red and black with two words. Two simple words that express the sentiments of the entire Bulldawg Nation…GO DAWGS

Shown on the videboard, as Munson continues, is a montage of some of the greatest plays in Georgia’s storied history. Come the video’s end, the fans’ goosebumps only intensify as Baba O’Riley pierces throughout the fall air.
