Georgia Tennis Legend John Isner Wins 5th Atlanta Open

The Georgia Bulldogs had quite the day on Sunday.  The football team gained 3 highly coveted recruits, which propelled them to 2nd in the 2019 recruiting rankings. Former hoop Dawg Yante Maten signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat and tennis star John Isner came from behind to win his 5th BB&T Atlanta Open.

The diehard Georgia football fan and Bulldog tennis legend beat his American friend Ryan Harrison in two out of three sets at the tournament, after losing set one. Isner won the match 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 after falling to break point in the second set.

Isner is currently ranked 8th overall in the world after a semifinal appearance at the All England Club for Wimbledon and a victory in the Miami Open.  The big Dawg took fellow college tennis star Ryan Anderson to five sets at Wimbledon, where he finally lost 26-24 in the fifth set.

Congrats to Isner, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, on his win in front of the home crowd today in Atlanta.
