Cam Nizialek To Play In New Professional League; Will Be Coached By Steve Spurrier

Former Georgia punter Cameron Nizialek, who came to Athens as a graduate transfer from the Ivy League’s Columbia, played a big role in UGA’s 2017 success.

Nizialek, who averaged 45.0 yards over 61 punts in 2017 (Georgia’s best since 2009), unfortunately went undrafted in the NFL Draft and unsigned in the ensuing months. However, he has found a landing spot that will allow him to continue his career in the professional ranks.

Nizialek tweeted on Friday that he will be joining the Alliance of American Football (AAF), a proposed professional American football league set to commence play in February 2019.

The star punter will play for Alliance Orlando, which was selected as the first host city back in April. It was also announced at the time that its coach will be none other than Florida Gators and South Carolina legend Steve Spurrier.

What is the AAF? Here is some info from the league’s website.

The Alliance will provide players a comprehensive bonus system, post-football career planning as well as counseling and scholarship support for postsecondary education. Founded by TV and film producer Charlie Ebersol and Hall of Famer Bill Polian, The Alliance features eight teams, under a single entity structure, playing a 12-week season kicking-off February 9, 2019 on CBS and culminating with the championship game the weekend of April 26-28, 2019.

Congratulations to Nizialek on this opportunity!
