Georgia Great Charles Johnson: "Betting Big Money On Them Dawgs This Year"

UGA great Charles Johnson has high expectations for the 2018 Georgia Bulldogs.

“I’m taking all bets this year. It’s legal right? Betting big money on them dawgs this year 💯💯❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤,” Johnson wrote on his Instagram.

It’s a new breed of bulldogs’ turn to make a name for themselves in Athens, and Johnson has every reason to bet big on the Dawgs this year. Selected as 4th overall in the preseason coaches poll, with a ton of returning stars and a manageable schedule, Georgia is in position to make yet another title run in 2018.

Johnson, who came to Georgia in 2004 from the small town of Hawkinsville, was an absolute star at UGA his junior year in 2006, recording 9.5 sacks and 19 tackles for a loss. He also added 4 career forced fumbles and 1 touchdown in 2005.

Johnson would go on to be a third round pick by the Carolina Panthers, where he would play 11 seasons in Charlotte before retiring after the 2017 season. Johnson had three seasons in which he recorded 10+ sacks.

Johnson has also spent the majority of his career giving back to those less fortunate. Through his philanthropy, The Charles Johnson Foundation has provided numerous kids with scholarships to attend college. In addition, Johnson and his partners just recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their 124-unit affordable housing development in Columbia, S.C
