Look: Devon Gales, Family Break Ground On New Home

After securing a piece of land for a new wheelchair accessible home, it was finally time to let Devon Gales break ground.  The former Southern University wide receiver who was paralyzed on a kickoff against Georgia has been in search of a new home for more than a year now.

The Triumph Over Tragedy Foundation told Gales he would be getting a new home in 2016,  but funding fell through, unfortunately.  However, Georgia alumnus Jim Butterworth created a new campaign called ‘Build for Devon’ which raised $250,000 for the home. Former Georgia linebacker Whit Marshall rose to the occasion and donated a generous amount for Gales back in July.  The lot lies in the Traditions of Braselton subdivision, which is about 30 minutes from Athens and over an hour from the Shepherd Center.

On Friday, Gales and his family broke ground on their new home in Braselton, as seen below.
