NASCAR Driver Chase Elliott Gives Credit To Kirby Smart After First Series Win

It’s no secret that NASCAR driver Chase Elliott loves his Georgia Bulldogs.  The Dawsonville native was given a No. 9 Georgia football jersey ahead of his February race in Hampton at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Elliott, driver of the No. 9 car, finally got his first career victory in the Monster Energy Series on Sunday.

After winning at Watkins Glen, Elliott credited Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart for his motivation.  Elliott told reporters “Kirby Smart had a speech about pressure is a privilege. I had that on repeat this morning on the bus, just thinking about it. I thought we had a chance today and I wanted to make sure that if we were in a position to capitalize, we did.”

After winning the race, Elliott said, “the pressure is really a privilege.”

680 The Fan’s Sandra Golden captured a video of the post-race speech, which is featured below.
