Patriots Cut Former Bulldog Wide Receiver Weeks After Looking For Trade Partner

Former Georgia wide receiver and beloved author Malcolm Mitchell will be looking for a new team to join this season.  The Bulldog alumn was cut by the New England Patriots on Monday just two weeks after the team tried to trade him.

Unfortunately for Mitchell, the injuries were too much to overcome, resulting in his release from the franchise.  The Patriots reportedly lost interest in the Valdosta native following a slow recovery from a season-ending knee injury one year ago.  However, it is a risky move of Belichick to cut Mitchell with the departure of Danny Amendola and suspension of Julian Edelman.

Monday marked 26 days until the start of a new football season for Georgia.  Ironically, Mitchell wore the No. 26, which happens to be the number of days remaining until UGA kicks off its 2018 season, during his tenure in Athens.
