Amid Holdout, Bears Fans Already Turning On Georgia Great Roquan Smith

Butkus Award-winning linebacker and Georgia legend Roquan Smith was selected number eight by the Chicago Bears in April’s NFL Draft.

Fans were once ecstatic to see Roquan carry on the tradition of excellence at the linebacker position in the Windy City, however, as a result of a drawn out holdout by Smith, those fans are now losing said enthusiasm.

Smith is entering his third week of missed training camp thanks to the contract debacle, making him the last player drafted to not sign a deal with the team that picked him.

As mentioned, some Bears’ fans have grown tired of the situation, calling Smith selfish. If there’s one thing we learned about Smith during his time at Georgia, the humble, quiet Montezuma native is far from selfish.

BearsWire.com compiled a few tweets expressing the fans’ newfound lack of enthusiasm over the first rounder.

My message to Chicago fans – – if this is ever resolved and Quan ends up playing for the Bears: Just wait until Roquan steps on the field for the first time and completely smothers an opposing running back. You’ll forget this whole holdout thing ever even happened.
