Report: Georgia Close To Agreement With Pac-12 Opponent On 2022 Game

According to 247 Sports, the Georgia Bulldogs are close to an agreement with the Oregon Ducks on a 2022 matchup.  The two teams are planning to square off in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium for opening weekend, which is likely to be a part of the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff series.

Contract negotiations are still in the works but are expected to be complete within the next few weeks.  The game slots for the next three seasons have already been filled, so it should not be a surprise if this game ends up being affiliated with Chick-Fil-A.

The Bulldogs have only met the Ducks once on the football field (1977), a 27-16 victory for Georgia.  When asked on 680 The Fan’s Radio Show how he likes to open the season, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said, “I love playing a Power Five team if we can do it.”  The reigning SEC Coach of the Year also mentioned how he would love “an opportunity to play in Atlanta.”
