Georgia Quarterback Jake Fromm Discusses Broken Hand

Starting quarterback situation…

Jake Fromm is yet to be announced the starting quarterback for Georgia’s week one game against Austin Peay. Kirby Smart did, however, hint at Fromm lining up under center to open the season on Saturday.

Though a majority of FBS schools have now released their depth charts for the coming season, Smart has refrained from doing so.

“It’s just kind of the mantra we go by here,” Smart said, “that every practice is really competitive here, and the job opportunity is competitive.”

Fromm on his recovery from a broken hand…

Fromm met with the media on Monday, and following a summer of a few lake incidents – a fishing lure stuck in his leg and a broken hand as a result of a boating accident – he was quickly asked to recap those.

Fromm mentioned how is hand is doing better and X-rays are on the way.

“The hand is a lot better, it’s definitely come back to normal,” Fromm said. “I don’t necessarily have a timetable for the brace yet, but getting X-rays soon, and we’ll see what it says.”

Fromm on which summer injury was the biggest issue setback for him:

“Definitely the hand. The hook in the leg, that one really didn’t bother me a whole lot…Honesty, I really didn’t want coach Smart to find out until I kind of knew what was going on and how bad it really was,” he said with a smile.

Georgia begins its season on ESPN against Austin Peay on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
