Kirby Smart, Players Understand They Have To Pick Up The Physicality

When Georgia plays South Carolina on Saturday, it will be the team’s first SEC match of the season.

The Gamecocks clearly pose a higher threat than UGA’s week one opponent in Austin Peay. The speed, size, strength, skill and physicality will all be a new beast for Georgia’s newcomers.

But if there’s one thing Kirby Smart and his players know they need to do, it’s pick up the physicality.

Kirby Smart on playing physical against South Carolina:

“Last year’s game was one of the most physical games we played in,” Smart said. “It’s a whole new ball game this week. We’ll be playing bigger and more physical guys.”

Elijah Holyfield:

“We need to get more physical and get back to what we do,” said  Holyfield.

D’Andre Swift:

“I don’ think we were as physical as we need to be, that’s the whole team,” Swift said. “We just have to be physical with [South Carolina] and create a great game plan and prepare.”
