Georgia Recruiting Targets Will Love This Stat From UGA's Opening Game

In Georgia’s week one game against Austin Peay, the Dawgs rolled to a 45-0 victory over the Governors.

All offseason, Georgia fans were anxiously awaiting to see the number one recruiting class in the country suit up in red and black for the first time.

And on Saturday, Dawg Nation sat happy as they watched the coveted recruits take the field, including a start from 5-star cornerback Tyson Campbell.

According to the Georgia Football Twitter account, 22 newcomers saw playing time against Austin Peay, a number that UGA coaches likely informed their recruits of after the game in Sanford Stadium’s new recruiting area.

  • Justin Fields, the nation’s top overall recruit, saw significant playing time as the quarterback battle between he and Jake Fromm continued.
  • Running back James Cook made some big plays on the ground and a hauled in a few receptions as well.
  • Newcomer wide receiver Demetris Robertson took an end around 73 yards to the house.
  • 5-star offensive tackle Cade Mays made the second half start at left tackle.
  • On defense, lineman Brenton Cox made some big plays, showing why he was worthy of his 5-star grading as a prep at Stockbridge.
  • Adam Anderson came to Georgia as a 5-star outside linebacker, and fans at home heard his name called a couple times as well by the ESPN broadcast crew.
