John Isner Quarterfinal Match: When, Where To Watch; Preview

The face of American tennis has successfully made it to the quarterfinals at America’s biggest tournament.

John Isner, a former Bulldog and an avid college football fan, will be squaring off against the third overall seed in Tuesday’s US Open. Juan Martin Del Potro (3) of Argentina provides quite the test for Isner (11) going into the match as an underdog.

Continuing one of the best seasons in his career, Isner has already won the Miami Open over Del Potro and the Atlanta Open over fellow American Ryan Harrison.

The college tennis star reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon back in July, losing in a marathon fifth set to Kevin Anderson.

Now, Isner has positioned himself to make yet another semi-final, but Del Potro stands in his way.  The match gets going around 2:00 pm on ESPN from Queens in New York City.

Del Potro might be the betting favorite, but expect Isner to give him a hard-fought battle, which could go either way.

As it usually goes for Isner, the North Carolina native will likely just need a couple break points to advance to the semi-finals, where he will face the winner of Rafael Nadal vs. Dominic Thiem.

America’s serving machine will have the Bulldog faithful behind him, representing his alma mater on tennis’ biggest stage.  Best of luck to the 6-10 245 lb ‘big dawg’ on Tuesday and throughout the tournament.
