Georgia Alum Maria Taylor Talks Nick Saban Incident, Apology

University of Georgia Grady College alum and former UGA basketball and volleyball standout Maria Taylor has been at the center of talks ever since Nick Saban got testy with her following an Alabama week one victory.

You most likely know what happened last Saturday in Orlando, so I’ll spare you the pain of reading about it for the millionth time.

While appearing on the Finebaum Show on Thursday, ESPN college football report Taylor discussed the incident and Saban’s timely apology.

“I’ve been yelled by coaches since I was 12 years old. I’ve been called everything under the sun by any coach you can imagine, coach Landers I’m calling you out,” Taylor said, referring to her former Georgia woman’s basketball coach Andy Landers who is now also working for the SEC Network.

“So it didn’t really effect me that way. I just got lit up once. And that’s fine. I got a call from Saban before I even made it to the highway, that’s how passionate he was about getting the apology out. It was how he felt immediately in that moment.”

Taylor has a short memory, as you have to in the profession she is in.

“I’m so thankful and I respect him for making that call. We’ve both put it behind us and I hope everyone else can as well,” Taylor said.
