Hurricane Florence Could Affect Georgia - Middle Tennessee Game

As of Wednesday evening, Georgia’s scheduled 7:15 p.m. kickoff on Saturday with Middle Tennessee in Sanford Stadium is still on, but timing may change.

Per Luis Torres of the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal, Middle Tennessee athletic director Chris Massaro said it’s a fluid situation and a final decision most likely will not be made until late Friday.

Hurricane Florence is anticipated to be centered near Columbia, South Carolina Saturday evening, 150 miles east of Athens. It is currently a Category 3 storm and is predicted to hit the North Carolina coast with 120 m.p.h. winds early Friday morning.

Massaro told the Daily News Journal the schools are in constant contact and the Blue Raiders are flexible about potentially moving the game to an earlier start.

Middle Tennessee is due $1.7 million from Georgia and would lose the payout if the game is canceled. The schools don’t have a common bye week and rescheduling would be highly doubtful.

Stay tuned for further updates on the game.
