Mecole Hardman On How This Can Be Another Special Season For Georgia Football

Mecole Hardman’s junior season is off to a great start with the Georgia Bulldogs.

The athletic receiver out of Elbert County has hauled in 12 catches for 187 yards and on Saturday added his first career punt return for a touchdown. In total, Hardman has 4 touchdowns on the year as Georgia moves to 3-0 after beating Middle Tennessee State 49-7.

Last season, Hardman reeled in 25 catches for 418 and saw the end zone a total of 6 times.

Following Saturday’s game, in which Hardman had 4 catches for 21 yards and 2 total touchdowns, he spoke on how special this season could be.

“It’s been fun,” he said. “Really, I’m just going out there trying to help our team as much as I can, and make plays when my number is called and go from there.”

Hardman has proven to be Georgia’s top offensive threat throughout the early stages of 2018, and he’s enjoying every minute of it.

“I’ve been having fun this season and it can shape out to be a great season,” said Hardman.

As great as Hardman and his fellow receivers has been this season, there’s no egos to be found in the wide receiver room. Quarterback Jake Fromm discussed that here.

“Thats what I love about this team. Nobody’s ego is too big,” said Fromm.

As for Hardman, it took some time to adjust to playing fully at the wide receiver position. If you remember, when he committed to Georgia as a 5-star athlete out of Elbert County, he was a star on both sides of the ball, playing plenty at cornerback.

He discussed his comfort level with the position on Saturday.

“It feels good getting the hang of things, but definitely right now I feel more comfortable than I ever have. I’m just trying to keep my confidence level high and just be the best receiver I can be.”

It certainly looks like he has gotten the hang of things to us.

We’ll throw this 2016 quote from Hardman in as well, because it makes us happy..

Hardman after committing to Georgia in 2016:

“I want to build something new and be a part of something new. I think Coach Smart is going to do great things at UGA and I want to be apart of it.”
