Georgia vs Missouri: Series History

When UGA and Missouri face each other this weekend from Farout Field on ESPN (12 p.m. ET), it will be the eighth meeting between the two schools.

Georgia rides a 4 game winning streak into Columbia, coming off a 53-28 win last season. The Dawgs have never lost at Mizzou.

Georgia is 6-1 all-time against Missouri, and 5-1 since the Tigers joined the conference in 2012. The first game between the two schools came in the 1960 Orange Bowl, which Georgia won 14-0.

Since Mizzou’s joining of the conference, the games between the divisional foes have usually been pretty good ones, though the scores may not always reflect that.

The 2012 matchup, which UGA won 41-20, was an exciting game that was dominated by all-American Jarvis Jones. This came after Mizzou defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson claimed Georgia played “old man football” during the week leading up to the game.

The next year, Missouri came to town and beat a Georgia team that was stretched thin due to injuries. It was never really much of a game. 41-26.

In 2014, after Georgia had just received the news of Todd Gurley’s four game suspension, UGA rolled to a 34-0 victory behind a nice outing from running back Brendan Douglas.

2015 was one where many Georgia fans began to call for Mark Richt’s job, although UGA would win. Under the lights in Sanford Stadium, a much more talented Georgia team only managed to score 9 points, not scoring a touchdown, in a 9-6 win.

The next year, 2016, provided one of the most memorable games in recent Georgia history. It was superstar freshman Jacob Eason’s third ever game and first against an SEC opponent, same goes for first year head coach Kirby Smart. Eason would throw a last minute touchdown to wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie, securing a 28-27 Georgia win in Columbia.

The 2017 matchup was a classic Georgia steamroll, with UGA winning 53-28 en route to a historical season.

Let’s see what in store for us this weekend.

Prediction: Georgia 47, Mizzou 17
