Pro Football Focus Tabs Georgia Defensive Back To The Team of the Week

Pro Football Focus, a leading analytical scouting service, released their week 3 National Team of the Week and Georgia defensive back Deandre Baker made the list.

Baker, a senior from Miami, Florida, recorded three tackles, two solo stops, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and an interception. He was targeted three times by Middle Tennessee, allowing two receptions for a negative two (-2) yards.  His 91.5 grade was the highest on the team and highest-graded cornerback in the SEC.

“What more to say about Baker after his ridiculous start to the 2018 season after being selected as our top cornerback for this season. Against Middle Tennessee State, Baker was targeted three times and allowed two receptions but limited MTSU to negative yards on those receptions. He tallied another interception to give him two on the season in addition to two more pass breakups as he’s allowed a passer rating of 33.7 on throws into his coverage this season.”

Baker returned to Georgia after a stellar junior year. Many NFL draft analysts had him listed as a possible late first or early second round selection. His draft stock has only increased this season.

Baker will have to contend with Missouri senior wide receiver Emanuel Hall and quarterback Drew Lock on Saturday. Hall leads the SEC with 18 receptions and 430 yards. He also has three touchdown catches. Lock leads the conference in overall passing and is averaging 354 yards per game.

Georgia and Missouri (3-0) kickoff at Noon ET in Columbia with ESPN televising the game to a national audience and the IMG Network providing radio coverage.
