Bulldogs Must Stop Dropping The Ball Before The Endzone

Two weeks ago at South Carolina, UGA got things going early with an electric pick-6 to open the game. Well, it would have been a pick-6, that is, if not for Deandre Baker bafflingly dropping the football inches before crossing the plain.

After this debacle, Kirby Smart made it clear that Baker would receive plenty of work at practice to ensure this would not happen again. Given the implication of these words, along with Kirby’s old-school reputation, it was understood that this dropping of the ball would be a one time thing.

Well, here we are two weeks later, and young JJ Holloman must have missed the memo. Against Missouri, Holloman made a spectacular leaping catch on the sideline before running it all the way to the endzone… and dropping the ball right on the goal line yet again.

Luckily for Holloman, this play was upheld as a touchdown after review, but in a back-and-forth, high scoring game like that Georgia-Missouri duel, UGA cannot afford silly mistakes. These mental errors cannot happen if the Dawgs are to claw their way back to the National Championship. It simply isn’t possible.

Lucky for Kirby and the Dawgs, UGA twitter personality @skinnyqb10_pls has a solution to ensure that Dawg ball carriers don’t prematurely drop the ball again, while maintaining some celebratory swagger.
