It was a great day for Georgia running backs in the NFL.
Rookies Nick Chubb and Sony Michel – UGA’s 2nd and 3rd all-time leading rushers – both had breakout performances on Sunday for their respective teams.
Michel, the 31st overall pick of the New England Patriots, and Chubb, the 35th overall pick to the Cleveland Browns, both have seen light workloads throughout the early stages of the season.
But on Sunday, the two Bulldog greats showed maybe it’s time they’re shown more love going forward.
In a 38-7 New England win, Patriots fans received a heavy dose of Michel, who carried the ball 25 times for 112 yards and 1 touchdown.
As for Chubb, the Browns back only received three carries during the entire game, but that was all he needed to reach 105 rushing yards in a an overtime loss to the Raiders.
On his first carry of the game, Chubb took the rock and raced for a 63 yard touchdown, making men miss along the way.
And later in the game, on Chubb’s 3rd carry, with the Browns leading 35-34, he did it again. It was vintage Georgia Chubb, as the Cedartown product shook off 6 men en route to a 41 yard touchdown.
I think it’s time Cleveland remembers they used a 35th overall pick on Chubb and feed him the ball some more.
It really is great to see both Michel and Chubb do work in the NFL. Georgia fans know what they are capable of, now NFL fans know as well.
