Possible College Gameday Destinations: Will ESPN Pass On Georgia Again?

In the midst of a college football Saturday without the Bulldogs, we take a look ahead to next week’s Georgia-Florida game.

College Gameday spurned the Dawgs just one week ago in favor of Michigan-Wisconsin, however, ESPN’s pregame show might pay the defending SEC Champions a visit due to the significance of this week’s game.

It so happens that the Bulldogs and Gators square off in Jacksonville during week 9 when several of the premier teams around the country have easier contests.

In our minds, Jacksonville seems like a no-brainer for Gameday but we thought the same of Baton Rouge a week ago.  With that being said, let’s take a look at the rest of the games in the running to host the show.

Texas A&M @ Mississippi State

The likelihood of ESPN traveling to Starkville over Jacksonville is very low but we would not be surprised to see the crew favor an on-campus game.  The Bulldogs are currently losing to LSU, though a win could make things interesting.

Washington State @ Stanford

It is highly doubtful that Gameday includes Washington State two weeks in a row but a Cougar victory over Oregon could add some significance to this game.  We might have some things to say if ESPN really picks Palo Alto over Georgia-Florida though.

Notre Dame vs Navy* -In San Diego

Notre Dame played host to College Gameday during week 1 of the season vs Michigan, in one of the bigger games we have seen all year.  The Irish being undefeated and the unique location of San Diego seem intriguing.  However, Navy is not good enough to receive College Gameday before the Army game.

Group of 5 Venue

Many think ESPN will consider traveling to a Group of 5 campus next Saturday with such a small pool of contests to choose from.  All of the games listed above do not seem terribly worthy of Gameday so the biggest challenger to Georgia-Florida most likely lies outside the Power 5.

If the college football preview show does not pick Jacksonville for week 9, expect backlash.

Come on guys, make the smart choice.  Go to the Cocktail Party.

Oh yeah, we forgot.  It isn’t politically correct to call the clash that inappropriate nickname.  Georgia-Florida, that’s what we really meant.
