Kirby Smart Explains Why Demetris Robertson Has Not Played In Past Two Games

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart reveals why Demetris Robertson has not played the past two games

When Cal wide receiver Demetris Robertson announced his decision to transfer back home to Georgia, many expected the dynamic playmaker to have an immediate impact in Athens.

And, well, he did. In his first game, Robertson took a sweep for a long touchdown run, leaving Georgia fans wanting more.

Now we are in week 10 of the season, and Georgia fans are still wanting more. They’re wanting anything, actually.

Robertson has not seen significant playing time this season, and early on it was noted that Kirby Smart was favoring receivers who showed more blocking capabilities, like Tyler Simmons.

Smart has not made any comments on Robertson’s progression as a blocker, but on Tuesday he did reveal that the speedster has been dealing with an undisclosed injury that has caused him to sit out the past two games.

Smart added that he is not sure  if Robertson will be able to play this weekend against Auburn.

But whether or not Robertson can block, there’s no denying he can make plays. His freshman year at Cal was one that saw the Savannah native catch 50 passes for 767 yards and 7 touchdowns.
