Kirby Smart Defends Goal-Line Play Calling; Points To Lack Of Execution

Georgia’s goal-line struggles in the past two games against Florida and Kentucky have cooked up some serious frustration among Bulldog fans.

After Georgia failed to convert on six straight rushing plays from the goal line against Florida, the same situation occurred again vs Kentucky as the Dawgs could not get across the white paint on two consecutive plays from the Wildcats one yard line.

Many pointed to the play calling as part of the reason Georgia could not punch it in for six points.

And as frustrating as it may be for the Georgia fans, imagine how Kirby Smart, who prides himself on having a team that can shove the ball down your throat, must feel.

“I think we worked really hard on it last week and that’s probably the most frustrating thing is that we didn’t overcome the obstacles we had previously,” Smart said at his Monday morning press conference.

But for Kirby, play calling was not the issue the past two weeks. Instead, he points to a lack of execution from his players for the cause of frustration.

“And it has nothing to really do with play calling,” Smart said. “It’s not the maddest I’ve ever been. I was more disappointed in some of the organizational things, not necessarily what we did. Just the way we went about it, and we’ll continue to work on it and get better at it.”
