Georgia Injury Report For The UMass Game

After facing four ranked teams in consecutive games, the No.5 ranked Bulldogs host the FBS independent UMass Minutemen in an ‘appearance fee’ matchup. The Dawgs are huge favorites and as much as Kirby Smart preaches about getting better every day and every game, today will give a few hurting Bulldogs a chance to get better from the sideline.

With in-state rival Georgia Tech and a trip to Atlanta to face No. 1 Alabama in the SEC Championship game still on the schedule, today’s game will give several banged-up Dawgs to get healthy.

Following is today’s game injury report:

Offensive lineman Kendall Baker suffered a knee injury against Auburn a timeline for his return is unknown. The 6’6″, 310-pound senior Baker has played both guard and both tackle positions this season.

Defensive lineman David Marshall, who has a foot injury, has now held him out for four games, LSU, Florida, Kentucky, and Auburn and will be out for the UMass contest.

Defensive lineman DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle has missed the past 5 weeks with an undisclosed ailment. His status has not been updated.

Defensive lineman Justin Young is questionable for today’s game. He played in the season opening game and has been out for each game since. He did practice this week and the redshirt junior’s return would be a huge lift for the battered defensive front.

Freshman offensive lineman Cade Mays is dealing with a minor nerve injury in the neck and is questionable today. The former five-star recruit has started three games this season and has seen significant action.

Divaad Wilson has been upgraded to questionable after he suffered a torn ACL on the third day of spring practice. Now that he can’t lose being redshirted, the freshman defensive back may see some limited snaps against the Minutemen.

Wide receiver Demetris Robertson remains questionable. After beginning the year with a long touchdown run, the Cal transfer has been  bit of a mystery. Kirby Smart did disclose that Robertson has been dealing with unspecified injuries.

Offensive lineman Ben Cleveland played briefly against Auburn but it is questionable if he will suit up today. The 6-foot-6, 340-pound “Big Country”, has been out since the Missouri game when he suffered a fractured left fibula.

Defensive lineman Michail Carter is another member of the walking wounded on UGA’s defensive front. An  undisclosed injury kept him out of the past three games, but he practiced this week.

Center Lamont Gaillard has started the last 24 games at center but a hyperextended knee against Kentucky put the streak in jeopardy. He came back for the Auburn game but expect freshman Trey Hill to see a majority of the snaps today as Gaillard takes a rest.

Freshman linebacker Brenton Cox is probable after missing the Auburn game with an ankle sprain.
Today’s kickoff is 4:00 p.m. ET and televised on the SEC Network.
