Week 14 Conference Championship Game Picks And Analysis

The 2018 SEC football regular season might be over but that doesn’t mean we’re stopping our picks.

This week, instead of doing an SEC predictions post, we’ll project the score of make-up and conference championship games, with our typical analysis for the big ones.

Let’s get to it!

Power 5 conference championship games

Utah vs. Washington

The Huskies clinched a Pac-12 title game berth by knocking off rival Washington State last week in Pullman.  A trip to the Rose Bowl Game will be on the line Friday, against Utah.  Expect a resurgent Washington team to get the job done.

Prediction: Washington 35, Utah 24

Texas vs. Oklahoma

The college football playoff is well within reach for Oklahoma, entering Saturday.  However, the Sooners must beat Texas, the only team they lost to this season.  Look for Kyler Murray and the Oklahoma offense to get revenge on their bitter rivals from Austin.

Prediction: Oklahoma 48, Texas 41

Georgia vs. Alabama

Just like Oklahoma, the Bulldogs need to win Saturday, in order to reach the playoff.  The task of beating No. 1 Alabama is far from easy and we do not think it’ll happen.  The Crimson Tide escape a close one to virtually eliminate Georgia, until 2019, in another heartbreaking game for Dawg fans.

The Bulldogs will be back and better than ever next season, coming off a Sugar Bowl appearance, though.  Kirby Smart is just getting started on a dominant dynasty in Athens.

Prediction: Alabama 28, Georgia 27

Pittsburgh vs. Clemson

Ask us how we feel about Clemson’s conference championship opponent and Notre Dame not playing this weekend.  Pittsburgh (7-5), will provide the Tigers with a chance to fix any flaws ahead of the playoff.

Prediction: Clemson 45, Pittsburgh 17

Northwestern vs. Ohio State

The Buckeyes put the nation on notice last weekend, after beating Michigan 62-39.  They may fall short of the playoff but a Big Ten Championship and a trip to Pasadena will make for a great consolation prize.

Prediction: Ohio State 41, Northwestern 24
