Georgia Cornerback Eric Stokes Responds To Pregame Criticism From Media

Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes has quietly had a strong season in the Bulldog secondary, and on Saturday night in Atlanta he continued his solid play.

Stokes came into the game with 15 tackles and eight pass breakups, but tonight was tasked with his biggest challenge of the season going up against a plethora of talented Bama receivers.

And one media member who doubted Stokes in Saturday’s matchup was Lars Anderson of the Athletic. Before the game, Anderson tweeted a prediction stating Tua Tagovailoa would have a massive day targeting receiver Henry Ruggs, who Stokes was matched up on for much of the game.

Anderson was wrong. Tua was held to his worst game as a starter and Ruggs caught 3 passes for 49 yards. Stokes made a huge play in the first quarter…a diving effort to break up a pass intended for Ruggs in the end zone.

After the game, Stokes had a response for Anderson.

Something tells me Stokes had that tweet filed away before the game.
