Late Hit, Holding, PI, Face Mask, Etc. -- Compilation Of Missed SECCG Calls

Look, Georgia blew a big lead due in large part to straying away from what was working, playing conservative and then finally handing Bama the ball at midfield as a result of a horrendous fake punt.

Buuuuut, even though Georgia could have done a lot of things differently in the second half, the fellas in black and white were not giving the Dawgs any help.

Georgia was flagged six times for 50 yards. Alabama was penalized three times for 10 yards.

And I hate to be the guy that points to the refs, but at some point this whole terrible officiating thing just gets old. How does this happen? This is the SEC. The best conference in football. You guys can’t find a group of people capable of making halfway decent calls for three hours in the conference’s biggest game of the year? Sad. Really sad.

I watched as Jayson Stanley got hit late out of bounds. I saw as Brenton Cox had a hand in between the bars of his face mask. I watched in disgust as the refs had the audacity to review an incomplete Jake Fromm pass even though there was a clear ‘hands to the face’ penalty on the Bama defender. The amount of missed holding calls on the Alabama offensive line was just crazy and really was a key their win. And do not get me started on the missed pass interference as Ridley went up for the bomb in the final minute. Hugging is legal now in college football? Huh.

It’s time for SEC commissioner Greg Sankey to do something about this. It truly is a disgrace when these kids, who are unpaid mind you, work their ass off everyday just to have their biggest game of their careers stripped from them thanks to poor officiating. And the sad part is that this game was not even as bad as last year’s title game (that one’s not on Sankey…that’s a B1G problem). Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, Roquan Smith, Davin Bellamy, Lorenzo Carter, Isaiah Wynn, Dominick Sanders, Malkom Parrish and Trent Thompson worked their entire collegiate careers just to have the refs steal a title from them.

And I’m still waiting on Sankey to do something about this. Will he? I would not hold your breath. As long as the refs keep allowing Bama to get away with everything, the SEC will have a national champion every year.

I’ve done enough talking. Just take a look at all the missed calls from the SEC Championship.
