Vanderbilt @ Georgia men's basketball prediction

The Georgia men’s basketball team (8-5) has its SEC home opener Wednesday against the Vanderbilt Commodores (9-4) at 6:30 on the SEC Network.

Both teams suffered ugly losses to begin conference play on Saturday and are looking to rebound before a brutal stretch of games.  The Bulldogs, losing to Tennessee 90-56, have Auburn, Kentucky and Florida awaiting them.  As for the Commodores, following an 81-71 loss to Ole Miss, it’s Kentucky, South Carolina, and Mississippi State, before facing the No.3 Volunteers.

Both teams are in dire need of a victory on Wednesday night in what should be a very close game.  Vanderbilt and Georgia match up well in terms of record, points per game, points allowed and field goal shooting percentage.

On top of the statistics, each team has been extremely inconsistent, which is a cause for concern.  It’s very hard for me to pick a winner outright tonight but I am going to go with the Bulldogs at home.

Georgia gets the last-minute victory in Stegeman Coliseum by a score of 78-74, to improve to 9-5 on the year.  The home crowd propels the Bulldogs to the win, after a late-game three pointer from Tyree Crump.  78-74, Dawgs on top.
